Salmon Jerky
Need protein and don’t have a mode of refrigeration? Try a can of beans, cowboy. Because while this jerky is remarkably juicy, it gave me cat breath that I couldn’t shake. My own cat, at least, finally wanted to lick my face, but the perks were otherwise zilch. No seasoning other than salt. Why?
Chilean Hake Fillets
Know that these fillets are flatties. My recommendation: Defrost them overnight in the fridge, then dip in egg, dredge in cornmeal, and shallow-fry until golden brown. Serve with tartar sauce, ranch, slaw, spicy jelly, whatever. I always stock up on frozen fish at Trader Joe’s, where it’s cheaper than anywhere, and the hake is a nice change from salmon. Diversify your fishes for the sake of the planet, folks.
