IndiGo expands its 6E network, announces Nashik as 103rd destination

IndiGo yesterday commenced direct flights from Nashik, the 77th domestic and 103rd overall destination in the 6E network. The airline operated the first direct flights between Nashik-Goa, Nashik-Ahmedabad and Nashik-Nagpur.

The airline in a statement said that Nashik is the 7th destination on the 6E network in Maharashtra and will increase intra-state and inter-state accessibility, while promoting trade, tourism and mobility through these new connections.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of our operations from Nashik, marking our 77th domestic destination. This move connects India’s golden triangle to a plethora of domestic and international locations through our 6E network. By enhancing accessibility to Nashik, famous for its rich history, we aim to promote commerce and tourism and boost economic growth in the region,” said Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, IndiGo.

The leading Indian carrier has wet-leased the aircraft from its codeshare partner Turkish Airlines. The airline is expected to wetlease two more aircraft to bolster its international operations. Last year, the Civil Aviation Ministry had allowed IndiGo to wetlease aircraft for 6 months. The Boeing 777 aircraft has the seating capacity of 400 passengers in a dual class configuration.

Inclusion of these direct flights in the airline’s summer schedule will offer more choices to tourists visiting Nashik which is India’s wine capital, and to professionals travelling to the major industrial hub for automobile companies.

“Our commitment to providing courteous, on-time, hassle-free, and cost-effective travel experiences remains unwavering as we continue to expand our regional connectivity,” Malhotra expressed further.

Nashik, an ancient holy city in Maharashtra, is well-known for its connection to the Ramayana. Situated on the banks of Godavari River, Nashik is best known for being one of the Hindu pilgrimage sites, that of Kumbh Mela which is held every 12 years and attracts many pilgrims. It is also one of the fastest-growing cities in India and has been a major industrial center in the automobile hub.
